ANI across Header

Tutorial by: HOOTY aka Doyle Allen

Date: 12/07/03

Skill Level: Intermediate

Approved by the HootyTutTestersGroup!

Needed:

Paint Shop Pro…any version

Animation Shop

A completed Simply framed header

A picture tube resized

This is just to learn the basics ideas and steps

and you can use your own paths and creativity

once you learn.

Preparation:

I would suggest resizing your header to no wider

or higher than 400 pixels.. This is to keep the

memory size down.

Save your header at the Highest compression

possible to keep your animation size down when

 it is finished.

Quality may have to be sacrificed. I set mine at

about 40%.

Also resize your tube to proper size as you

see in my example and save as a transparent

.gif in the same folder that you saved your

header for easy access.

1. File/Jasc Software Products/Launch Animation Shop

2. Close out Paint Shop Pro...we are done using that!

Now we go back to AnimationShop.

3. File/Animation Wizard

Settings:

Same size as the first image frame = Checked

Next>

Opaque = Checked

Right click on the Color block and change it to

your background color that you are going to use.

Next>

Upper Left = CHECKED

With the preceding frame's contents = Checked

Scale frames to fit = Checked

Next>

Yes, repeat the ani indefinitely = Checked

How Long:  probably = 45

Next>

Add Image: Find your Header Image

Open

Next>

Finish

4. File/Open: click on your resized tube

Open

Now we are going to make 6 ani frames in total.

5.Click on your Header frame to make it active

6. Edit/Copy

7. Ctrl + Shift + L  (Do this 5 times)

8. Right Click on your tube now and select Copy

9. Click back on Frame 1 of your header frames

Procedure for the next steps:

The next placement steps will tell which frame

you are on and show you the general placement

of your tube. Each time you click on a new

frame press Ctrl + E and your tube will be

suspended from your cursor tip until you

left click which will paste it .  If you mess up

just click Edit/Undo or Ctrl + Z

10.  Frame 1

Partially entering the frame on the

right side and a little above as he jumps into

view.

11. Frame 2

 Lands down & Left from

where he entered to start his journey jumping

across the header.

12. Frame 3

Here he is shown where he jumped back up and

over even more to the left of the header.

13. Frame 4

Here he is shown in his approximate landing

level and over even more to the left.

14. Frame 5

Here only about half of the tube is visible as he

apparently drops off the header! WEEeee!

Bad landing Santa!

Right click on it and select Frame Properties

and change the timing to 20!

This will make him drop off the screen more

smoothly to the eye.

15. On Frame 6 Do not paste your tube but

Right click on it and select Frame Properties

and change the timing to 150!

This will be a stagnant frame inbetween the

animation so it doesn't drive everyone nuts,

just to give the eye a break from the action!

16. Press the view animation icon  in the

upper right side of your screen to see your

new animation in action!

17.  File/Save As: Save your Header animation!

After Thoughts, remember to try different paths

to make your own different variations of this idea!!

 WEEeee!

 Remember to Watermark your creations!
