Advanced goal example shown above
Approved by our great testers group!
Skill Level: Advanced beginner.
The more skilled and experienced creators will
have knowledge of layering text and tubes and
using drop shadows, bevels etc. to get even
more professional results.
Written using Paint Shop Pro8... Paint Shop Pro7'ers with basic knowledge
should be able to adapt to get the same results.
Needed: MuRa's Copy and Perspective filters.(click)
PictureTubes of your choice to create a theme.
Attention: You will notice that a lot of keyboard
shortcuts are given with the tool selections.
Not only is this more efficient but will also help
those new to Paint Shop Pro8 to let the keys find the tools
instead of having to fish for them. U-R Welcome.
They are usually in between ( these)!
1 Open a Tube from your tubes folder.
2 Open a New transparent image! (Ctrl + N)
530 x 470 pixels
3 Dropper Tool (E):
a. Select a light medium color for your foreground
by left clicking on your tube or elsewhere.
b. Select a Darker version of the same color for
your background color.
4 In your material palette change your foreground
to a Gradient and select your Fore+Background
gradient from the top of your selections list.
Settings:
Angle and Repeats both = 0, Invert Checked,
Style = Linear
5 Flood Fill Tool (F):
Left click on your transparent canvas and fill
it will the gradient .
6 Effects/Plugins/MuRa's Filter Meister/Copies
7 Text Tool (T)
You can use the font of your own choosing of course
and make your text any color that will contrast
with the background so it can easily be read.
Let's Add some text ! Choose your own words.
TIP: USE ALL CAPITAL'S. When it is resized
it would be hard to read otherwise.
Click OK!
8 Because your settings includes Vector Text,
you can hold your cursor over the end of the long
handle , left click and drag it up to turn it.
The blocks (called handles) can be left clicked
on and dragged to make the shape warp or the
make the text taller-shorter or wider-thinner.
Leave room for tube(s)
9 Layers / Convert to Raster Layer
10 (Optional)
Effects/3D Effects/Inner Bevel
Bevel = #2, Width = 8, Smoothness = 0,
Depth = 1, Amb and Shin = 0
Color = white, Angle = 315, Inten = 50, Elev = 30
OK
11 (Optional)
Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow
Settings: Adjust to your liking.
12 Let's add some tubes to dress it up!
Add a Layer/New Raster Layer everytime
you add tubes to dress up your image.
Use Image/Rotate/Free Rotate (Ctrl + R) at
probably about Left 37° to align properly.
If you choose to add inner bevels and drop shadows
to your tubes feel free to do so!
Tip about drop shadows.. they should all go in the
same direction to maintain a natural appearance.
13 Layers/Merge/Merge All (flatten)
14 Effects/Plugins/MuRa's Filter Meister/Perspective Tiling
15 Layers/New Raster Layer (if needed)
Add your main tube to the lower right.
Again, add bevel and / or dropshadow etc.
Use the mover tool (M) to move into place.
16 A couple ways to go?!
(a) Text Tool: Add your name or other text
to the left of your tube (suggested location)
Add bevel and shadow if you like.
(b) An alternative might be to add accents instead.
Like maybe some flower tubes etc. instead of
text.
(c) Or put nothing at all.
17 Layers/New Raster layer
Add your water mark.
18 Layers/Merge/Merge all (flatten)
19 Image/Add Borders = 10 symmetric
20 Magic wand: select the new border.
21 Flood Fill (F) with your gradient or another fill and
bevel a couple of times with my previous settings.
22 From here you may use as is for a header or/and
resize for a tag.
Sharpen etc if needed of course.
23 Save as a jpg at probably 15-25% compression.
Remember to Watermark your creations!
